St Paul’s United Methodist Church welcomes City Gates Academy as expansion at BVBC has curtailed access to CGA's former home.

Welcome to the new website of City Gates Academy, Wilmington Delaware.

Visitors: If you are not a member of the school community, we invite you to browse the public content and learn about the school. You can use the contact tab at the top of any page to submit a question to someone about the school or website.

Parents and Teachers: An account has been created for you to access the private pages of the site where you will find private forums and class groups. Your account name is normally in the form FirstInitial.LastName. so for example Fred Smith would have the account name F.Smith

There are a few exceptions to this naming rule when a parent name and student name begin with the same letter. If you have this situation, you should receive an email from the site administrator with your name and password. For all others, you must request your password to be emailed to you. This process will confirm the email address was correctly configured in your account and will give you the opportunity to change the password to something only you know.

To request your password, look below the login boxes for the request password link. Simply fill in either your account name or your email address in the form. Within a few minutes, you will receive an email containing a password reset link. This will allow you to login once, then change the password.

If the password request does not work, please use the contact tab at the top of the web page to request assistance with your account.

Please note that when you login to www.cgade.org you must allow browser cookies from cgade.org. Otherwise you will not be able to login.

The Scholastic Warehouse Book sale is going on now. Here's the web address for more information:

Since we installed the new security measures a week ago, a few student users have had trouble logging in. Repeated unsuccessful attempts has resulted in the blocking of the computer being used.

Hi Ken and/ or board,

Never mind the post I just wrote. Math 7 is the pre-algebra class. Time for me to go to bed!

Janet

When reading their cgade.org email, students must login using their full email address in lower case as the user name. Their email passwords (which are different from their website) passwords were sent to the parents and given out on Tuesday.

The lower case requirement baffled me because Internet email addresses are NOT case sensitive. However, at the moment they login to webmail, the address is serving as a login name which in this case appears to be strict about case. All accounts are setup as lower case.

Help with student mail.

This information is for students using mail accounts provided by cgade.org. You have 2 options for getting you mail using a web interface. All require you to put in your full email address ( for example: t.student@cgade.org ALL LOWER CASE) and your email password.

Remember, your email password is different from your website password. Your email password was sent to your parents in a student info email. If you need another copy, use the contact tab to request account support.

There still seems to be much confusion among students and their parents about how to get on for the first time. I am sorry for being unclear. Let me try again and make it very simple.

Want to take the shortest shortcut to see whats new at CGADE.ORG?

After you login, you will find a "My unread" link in the block on the left with your name on it. Follow this link will give you a page with 3 tabs.

My unread - is everything in your organic groups (i.e. Class groups) that you have not looked at. Once your read an item, it will no longer show on this page.

Recent posts is just what's new on the whole site in reverse chron order.

My Recent - contains all the recent items from your organic groups, regardless of wheater you read them.

If you get and access denied error message after logging in the toe site, then following a link, check to make sure the paged is opening in the same web browser as the one you logged in on.

In the (perhaps rare) case where you have two browsers installed, it is possble that you are using the one which is not the "default". Since your default browser is the one to open a new link and the browsers do not share cookies, you will get the denied error because the second browser session doe not "know" you have logged in.

A very quick and simple way to access most POP email accounts including the cgade.org student email accounts in the mail2web site

http://www.mail2web.com/

It a no frills method. does not store contacts or history but is nice because it works from any computer and besides you account name and password, theres nothing to remember.

Try it!

On your first visit to CGADE.ORG, here are some suggestions to "get your feet wet".

1) Request a password using the link HERE

2) Log in and set your password.

3) Visit your class groups using the “my groups” block on the right hand side. There should be one class group for each class you are enrolled in. Class groups is where teachers will be posting assignments or supporting information.

4) Visit the Forums - Forums offer a wide range of topics from support to a trading post for items to by or sell.

The CGADE development team received some feedback that people were annoyed (or inconvenienced) after receiving a new content notification containing multiple items. I think the issue was that people were flipping between the email and the website in order to read the new posts.

There is a much simpler way....

You should know by now that when you get a new content notice, some itemswill only be visible after you login. If you click on a link for private content and are not already logged in to cgade.org , you will received an "access denied "message. Once you do login, you will see the page.

In your internet browser and any other security programs you are running, you must permit cookies from cgade.org in order to login.  The reason for this is because by logging in you are establishing a secure connection of sorts.

When you are log off it is safe to delete the CGADE cookies. Personally I believe in living as "cookie free" as possible.
